This should be the tale of my thirtieth year.

The Peace of Wild Things

So, when one is making oneself sick with spinning thought syndrome, it is smart to retreat to the outside world, or the world outside oneself.

It is amazing the peace that comes sitting with trees. Took my walk to the park. Quick trip through the Japanese Tea Garden. Lovely, but too many tourists. Headed back through the arboretum. Found some nice spots in New Zealand, Japan, the succulents, and most of all the Redwood walk. Saw a whole family rolling down a grassy hill.

The Homie Gang was back when I arrived, so we had nice dinner, and as always good chatting.

Must stay resolved to let sleeping dogs lie.

Must also have a sit down with my physiology and figure out why it tries to be so rebellious.

Let Go, Jump In

Who thought you could enjoy a cup of coffee with a Wolverine?

Maybe I shouldn't live so close to the ocean. Maybe I shouldn't watch movies about writers.

Maybe I should walk more.
Maybe I should learn to speak freely.
Maybe I should figure out how to use my mental reins.

My question is this...can letting go and jumping in possibly be the same thing?
What do you all think?

Having a ball

1. I can't help it, when I have a good time with someone, I want to have more of a good time with that someone. Gets me in trouble every time.
2. Major League baseball is fun. The Giants won..YAY!

Training wheels

Was up early this morning. Got myself together and took Mammy to the airport. She's off to get Poppy. I felt bad when I was leaving because I just dropped her off.

I couldn't find the right music to listen to on the way into the city.

I tried to take some photos of the ocean from 19th. It was like liquid slate. I ate some eggs and rested.

It seems like I am having a low oxygen day, but I managed to rouse myself and get out into the rare sunshine day. Walked up to Amoeba and picked up a couple of CDs, then got A & E their anniversary gift certificate. On the way back I was thinking (after being passed by some bike cops) that if someone tried to attack me I would pull a knife (which I don't have) and threaten to remove their "bits". Mid thought I looked down and saw some interesting sidewalk art (see photo soon). HAHAHA

I grabbed a cup of tea and a scone so I could take my oxygen pill, then decided that if I walked down 11th and their was a nail place at the end, I would get my first professional pedicure. You should see my beautiful feet. I must admit, it was all I could do not to squirm during some of the ticklish parts.

Headed back to listen to my new CDs and attempt to nap. Couldn't sleep, but spent a good 45 minutes falling in love with the Garden State Soundtrack. I got all happy/blissful. When I opened my eyes the fog had come. I stretched and squirmed, and then sat up and looked out the window. A little guy and his bike had fallen over on the pavement. His Dad picked him up, dusted off, gave him a squeeze and a kiss, and away they went. It is moments like that that make me want kids.

The Cheese Lady

Did chores this morning after languishing in bed. I got packed up and ready to head down to S & B's. Before I left I had to run up the street to try and get Mammy's jacket repaired. I stopped in the cheese shop afterwards and had a happy surge/smiley moment. I was waiting while the nice lady made my sandwich, and the front door was open. A cool foggy breeze blew in the door, and everything just seemed so wonderful...all cheese and chocolate smelling and very citified.

She comes from Lebanon.

Mr. Urbane and I are supposed to go to my first major league baseball game tomorrow. I'm excited. I just hope I don't pull my usual tricks and end up with a baseball in my noggin.

You and me punk rock boy...

Flowers I bought at the farmer's market. They have anti-fog powers.

How is it?

WOW! I find myself still up at 12:39 AM, and so must write. I was watching inane TV and a commercial for Garden State came on. I got inspired to see if a soundtrack was out, and it is (YAY!). While doing this, I found out that Zack Braff is actually writing a blog. I love this in a million ways, a few of which are:
1. I started watching Scrubs because of ZB. He is funny and adorable.
2. It is a good movie, and what a great way to encourage people to see it.
3. I have never seen the wall created by celebrity eliminated so deftly. I'm sad 'cause there is no way they can keep it up.
If you haven't seen the movie, you should!

I woke up at 8:30 this morning and lazed around on the couch slightly dehydrated. It was foggy, so I wasn't being pulled out into the world for my day's adventure. When I finally did make it out, I (upon good advice from multiple sources) headed up to Arizmendi for baked goods and coffee. I was afraid of taking such hot coffee on the train (a third cup of hot coffee in my lap in three weeks would be bad!), so I went in a couple of stores. I found three Brautigan's I already have, but they were cheap, so I couldn't resist. Finally I hopped on the train. The gal who was standing across from me was obviously cramming for a test. After a few minutes I noticed she had a "label what this is" anatomy drawing, so I asked about it. She is studying to be an MT. We traded email addresses. I HAVE GOT to get a business card! (Which means I have GOT to get a new cell phone)

I had a happy almost crying moment when I came out of the train grotto. There was a company named Ai, which is one of my favorite words ever. THEN there was a farmer's market. I couldn't help but relish the urbanness of it all. The Asian art museum was cool. The geisha exhibit was informative, if not slightly lacking in artifacts. When I went upstairs I got really upset. You start in India and work your way through to Japan. They have some amazing examples, but it just really hit me hard how much of it was focused around violence. I practically ran through the exhibits to get away from the menacing feeling. I'm sure I'll return some day.

Tomorrow is chore day.

Wander Wonder

Was discombobulated this morning. Was getting everything ready to go to the city, and finally gave up and rode with S up to see the WC gang (of whom the littlest is doing fine and dandy). We then headed in search of little people furniture. We ended up in the city, and found a nice set for A-man's number one birthday. He was super excited about the dogs in WC and seems fascinated with babies. At the store in the city they had example dolls for testing strollers etc. He insisted on touching them and finding out if they were alive.

Down and back up quickly. Dinnerish with Mr. Urbane. Very interesting. Beautiful house! Sweet cats. Will have to go to a baseball game.

Martini sleepy. Plan on going to the Asian Art museum tomorrow. Will post pictures when I return to S & B's.

Also, will miss Bentley.

A-man wants our Thai food.

Cyclone

Returned to the bay today via golden ranch lands, vulture cyclones, and retail therapy. It was strange seeing the vultures. I had a very emotional response. Made me wonder if it was drilled into my brain by movies or if it is an innate reaction. A swirling mass of menacing avian trouble. Is that what's scary or is it knowing that they are there because somethings dead in the first place. No picture of the birds.

Saw two semi almost wrecks with in five minutes of each other. Scary those things locking up the brakes and rocking side to side.

Feel high as a kite right now...mucho spicy and thai iced tea at dinner just now.

Was very glad to get back to my little man, who is growing up VERY quickly. Was sorry to miss his other Auntie and Uncle.

Mammy's foamy sink.

Foamy

Mostly a cleaning, working on paperwork, procrastinating day. Dad swears he'll be on the road by tonight. YAY!

Mom says I can't go back to the bay unless I email my stuff out, so I will sit down after dinner and do it! She managed to foam up the sink...very funny.

Had a lovely sit out on the deck earlier.
