Rocketship Headache
That's right...that's what I had today! I really MUST stop being sick! I can't imagine what it has been like for Homie K.
We left the house today around 2:00 (me, trying not to puke). We decided we had to get away from the beep, beep, beeping of the UPSs. They were going nuts because the power went out. It stayed out for six or so hours in quite a large area. We have searched the news, but still don't know why. We went shopping in an area that still had power, buying mostly books for A-man and some flannel sheets for Poppy.
I love Loretta Lynn for so many reasons, but in particular I love that she still calls her mommy "Mommy".
We managed to go by and pick up some rolls of pictures and slides that had been sitting around for a while. I didn't take any pictures today, but I scanned a few of the ones I picked up. I think it still counts, since they were part of the visual stuff in my world today. I told Mammy that I sure hope I end up getting hitched to a fella that says, "Hey honey, let's have martinis and watch some of your slides tonight.".
During my insomnia last night, I finished The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. It was really good. Cgrace, is it you that kept telling me to read her stuff?
I have very vague memories of the last Mt. St. Helens eruption. Someone brought Susan and I two tiny jars of ash when we were tiny. It wasn't until I was well into adulthood that I knew about how much destruction had happened. As some of you know, I am slightly afraid of volcanoes and earthquakes, so watching the progress of the current situation is fascinating, thrilling, and slightly scary. There are many people near by, and though the scientists say not to expect any huge explosions, I don't trust that big belching heap to do as told. Who knew volcanoes had an "e" in it?

Umm...if only.
A couple of things:
They took non-running cars on Overhaulin'.
River Phoenix hadn't died. Why did he?
So despite being all snuffly and sick, A-man was being really cute today. He seems to be going through a real attachment thing. Only wanted his Nana today when he needed comforting.
Nobody felt like doing much today, so I made desert (pumpkin this time), and we laid waste to some Indian take out.
I bought a tiny printer with the fifty bucks HP gave me for sending my computer late.
Just watching a bit of the Monterey Historic races that B-dawg Tivoed. Good gracious some of these cars are just too pretty.

P.S.
S is in the middle of sorting all her photos, and just went through her "duplicates and throw-aways" pile. I found three pictures of The Chef I had never seen before. It actually gave me a start...kind of vertigo. Very strange sensation, arising mostly out of the fact that sometime I feel he never existed. WEIRD.
Blow, Blow, Blow.
Alright...get out of the gutter!
It has been sneezing and blowing my nose all day since 7:30 this morning. That's right...the earliest I've been up for weeks.
I grabbed the baby (whose was standing up in his crib with tears rolling down his face), and then came and made myself some oatmeal.
Mom and I went for our hair appointments. I really wish I had a before and after photo, 'cause I was having a BAD hair day, and came out SO much better.
Later the whole fam went out for mall baby photos. At, as Susan calls it, the Dirt Mall, they have a store space taken up by the model train society. Needless to say, A-man LOVED it.

Drip, drip, drip.
I know I did stuff today...mostly sneezed a blew my nose.
I'm almost done with my book.
I'm tired and almost forgot to write anything. 9:40 bedtime, instead of the usual 1-2:00AM.
Haircut tomorrow.
Night, Night...pictures tomorrow.

Going to seed.
I have no clue how the day started. I seem to recall checking email, etc. At some point I was using the windows media player to listen to Amazon samples. A-man really got a huge kick out of it. He was quite perturbed that I wouldn't let him play with the buttons. He liked it all, from Indian to Opera. Good kid.
Mammy and I dragged him out to Costco. He has turned into a self shopper and has much longer arms than you would expect.
Did a little bit of landscape tidying. The jasmin squirted an elmer's glue like substance all over me. Soap and warm water was required.
Been reading the first in a series of books set in a place near Blowing Rock, NC. REALLY makes me miss a southern fall!

Let them eat cake.
Well kids...not too much to report today. More reading, folding of laundry, dreading assigning time to anything definite, watching Formula One, and then making gingerbread. Yep, I made dessert tonight, and it came out pretty well. I also learned that I cannot make whipped cream from half and half.
Cgrace...two hints:
1. He was also in Bend it Like Beckham
2. www.imdb.com
But, when I was sitting on the couch today, I felt the fervor leave my body. Can't wait to see who's next.
Oh, and everyone should try www.colorquiz.com...it is fun! Thanks Climber Boy!
I'm harassing the gym people tomorrow..SCARY!
