This should be the tale of my thirtieth year.

Water that falls

I think this date will remain a "bad day" in our history for eons. I just can't be sad though. Today I did what I believe is right. I enjoyed life. I spent a wonderful day, in the great outdoors, with my loving family, and took a moment to know that good will always float to the top.

Got up early and fiddle faddled our way out of the house. Drove up to the pass and a bit over. Hiked to Sardine falls. Weather was perfect...sunny, warm, cool breeze. A-man loved being in his backpack. Everything smelled like sage (except the cow poop, of course). Ate lunch at the falls. Was feeling the altitude afterwards, so dribbled stream water on my neck, face, and arms. Stood on a rock in the stream and let the breeze cool the water. Felt like for that moment all is good in the world.

Came back to dinner, and quick phone call to the authorities (Mr. Rockthrower was yelling again). Sat all together for a long time, and Poppy told stories of his youth I had never heard before.

A good day.
Happy B-day to the other Auntie!

Reds and the new rack. We still have nothing on B-dawg.

More white, more champagne, and a red?

Champagne and some whites.

Wino deer apple

I was awake at 5:30 AM this morning. Our nutty neighbor was yelling again, thankfully briefly. I was trying to relax and go back to sleep with I heard a very odd thumping noise outside. A young deer had its front legs up on the fiberglass car trying to snatch some pear out of our tree. I chased it off, and finally went back to sleep. Up again at 8:30.

After some piddling and TV watching I put together a little wine rack for Mammy. I declared that the amount of wine in the house officially made us Californians.

Spent chunks of the afternoon cleaning out the woodshed. Will finish Sunday. There was a huge amount of poo in there...hope I don't get Haunta.

Mammy made yummy dinner, and then tried to enslave me. After peeling only about 6 apples I wimped out. I'm a no-good daughter.

The rest get here tonight, and then it is up the hill tomorrow for some sunshine.

Mama Bear was waiting with porridge.

Sometimes you gotta run for the hills

Piddled around today. Went and fed the kitties (A-man found this a huge thrill). Swung by the mall for lunch and presents for Mammy. Packed and fed the baby, but then we stalled out. B-dawg came home worn out, and S decided not to come up the hill. I jumped in the car and came anyway...packed so fast I forgot underwear..oops.

Gave Mr. Urbane a hard time via IM this morning. I need to learn to be less sassy. Also talked to the long lost HCB. She might come out for a visit, which would ROCK!

A-man has begun to make a funny squeak that we think is supposed to be a kitty meow.

It was too dark to take photos of the tomatoes at Tomato Curve...bummer.
Night, sweet dreams, sleep tight.

A-man charms the crepe place by grunting and banging on the metal table.

Search for the new T-Head

There can never be another. Not a replacement. Not a substitute. I just want to find a place that I can go to where I like the food, the people are fun, the atmosphere is comfy and energetic, and the price is right. If I lived in a different place I could have found it today. S and I went out for lunch, post feeding the cat people's cats. It was a cute crepe place called Sweet Pea. Pretty good food, good price, fun people, fun decor...just not anything like near us. :-) Drove around looking at big, beautiful old houses afterwards. All kinds of fun.

A headache drove me to a nap this afternoon. I kept almost waking up and I was so hot and thirsty, but not awake enough to get H20. B-dawg rescued me with some of the chilled stuff. My hero.

Old friend of S & B's over for dinner tonight w/ his newlywed wife. Very pleasant, and S made yummy food. L, the new wife, is very good with A-man...was reading him the Room & Board catalog. :-)

Been having funny stirrings in my head, probably brought on by my current limbotic state. Just craving a settled feeling, I suppose.

Glad (and jealous) to hear the IN gang is headed to the farm. Wish I was coming, so Jillo and I could supervise/play together. :-) Oh, and J-bob, you know that calling you a girly is the highest of compliments, even if your hardware is different.

So spacy I took a bad picture of a pillow.

Space Cadet

Well, I am dumb. I stayed up past three last night because I started a Murakami I couldn't put down. I finished off the last bit today. He is so good though I wonder about the translation.

Strange day. Head everywhere. Mostly just need to nap and stop reading late at night. :-)

More tomorrow.

A-man takes a dip in the pool with his Auntie.

Airline Attendant

Just finished up a viscous game of Scattergories. Airline Attendant, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Cashmere Cardigan all helped to keep me competitive.

The other Auntie goes home tomorrow. :( It is so nice to have all the family about. A-man is now pointing at his toes, lifting up shirts to see everyone's belly, and pointing to his nose.

Watched a disturbing documentary about women in Algeria. UGH. Makes me worry for the world.

Still fighting off a germ, so I slept quite a bit.

Reposted my profile on an unnamed website. We'll see. Don't really like the process, but at least it would be a way to discover the city, new people, and get out.

A-man decides The Vagina Monologues looks like a good read.

Rice Swells

I feel good, and a bit sad. The Grandparents all went home today. This is a bummer. A-man seems to love having them here, and really progresses when they are.

Want to be sending this from my new laptop, but it is chunking away on its second or third hour of MS updates...maybe tomorrow.

I am missing my peeps today...want to go out for coffee and shopping! Which leads me to Jillo and her thoughts. I need to purge, which also makes me want to turn right back around and "fill up" again. Jillo...more power to you. Even if you miss things later...they are just things! ;-) Although I REALLY miss the earring I lost on Friday!!!

I don't want to read the news anymore...makes me feel like the end is nearer than I would like. Better not be! ;-)

Oh, and rice does swell. That or I ate too fast!
