This should be the tale of my thirtieth year.

A-man is a box opener.

Internal combustion

Today was all about the cake and ice cream shin-dig for A-man. I woke up feeling as though I was fighting a germ, so was a bit on the slow side. I tried to do my part, and, of course, everyone else worked hard. Everything came together and fun was had by all. A-man seemed to have a good time with all the people. He seemed a bit shocked when 30 some people sang Happy Birthday to him, but enjoyed smooshing whipped cream all over his face.

Afterwards, he opened a box...tried very hard to say box, and could follow the commands, "Put the frog in the box, take the frog out of the box, put the shirt in the box, etc." He was very fastidious about the items being all the way in the box before trying to close it.

Now I am very warm and going to bed. :-)

A-man and Daddy want the praire dogs.

"What is that Fred?" "Dunno, Wilbur...one of them big un's, I think."

Meerkat mayhem

Took A-man to the zoo today. He seemed amazed by all the animals, though not as animated as I might have guessed. There was a lot of pointing and an speaking in hushed tones. We saw some beautiful tigers, lions, birds, goats, sheep, horses, elephants, etc. Ate lunch with some peacocks and seagulls. Wore everyone out, then we came home.

One of the most amazing things involved a plane flying overhead, and the meerkats stopping, looking up, and following it with their gaze. What must they think...a huge bird? So crazy.

Also, A-man crawled for real for the first time. Just did it, on camera, in front of the ENTIRE family, with no prompting. Funny guy.

The Cat Folks came over. Ms. Cat's grandpa just died..very sad, but she seems in good spirits.

CAKE CAKE CAKE tomorrow!

Off to attempt WW Friendly dip.

Cabinet heaven (and there's more to the left!)

Doesn't it look like it is supposed to say that?

I should have a jet pack

Was up early this morning. Ran off to Kinko's where they were nice. Zoomed downtown to meet with the GymMan. All went well, and I was tempted by the Nanner Public window. Got lost which inspired me being nice. Went to the Ferry building for Miette supplies/fortifications and flowers. While walking there, (after finding a good metered spot) I saw a very interesting piece of vandalism. Got back and then took Homie A to the Dr., Eric's, and the drug store (the hair accessories get me EVERY time!). Their new place is super nice...I'm so GLAD!

M&D show up tonight, and we are off to the zoo (where we belong) tomorrow!

Somebody has a green thumb.

Coffee Sidewalk

I am typing this on Sept. 2nd, but I did not have access to a computer last night.
This is what I wrote down on a piece of paper:

Good yet stalled day. Meeting delayed until Thursday. Finally got to the city (after calling AAA AGAIN b/c of my broken dinger and non-functioning head). Helped with the last bit of clean up. SO happy for the Homies, re: their new place.

Went for dinner/coffee with Mr. Urbane. As always, a pleasure. Probably talked too much. Both had a good laugh when my 1/2 a sandwich leftovers came back to the table squished into a [paper] canister. [The kind you get take-out soup in.] Why didn't I take THAT picture? Finished off the baseball game at his house. Speaking of...his house was all I got pics of today and felt intrusive doing that. Also met his departing roomie's b-friend...the "right" kind of environmentalist. He help developing countries devise economic plans that encourage conservation.

What I didn't write on paper:
Had a happy moment while we were having coffee: Was sitting on the sidewalk in SF, having a good cup of coffee, a cool breeze was blowing, and the company was good. YAY!

Me, a year later.

Don't order this..it is foamy. (Some raw yam, plum, and minty leaf sushi)

Fuzzy A-man.

This stuff was good..some fried tofu in brown sauce..too bad I made it look like vomit.

Good paperwork

Well, a few clean ups and some copying in the morning, and we'll be good. Senorita was most helpful today doing last minute editing. It is really nice to have such generous family. And let's talk about generous friends as well. I can't believe what Jillo has done (and J-todd too!). Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It is A-man's first birthday today. When I woke up I thought about what it was like a year ago. It was very scary until Alyssa popped in and told us all was well. I cannot believe how the last year has been. Very fun, and also wearing. A-man is so cute and smart. It is great to be here for his growing up. Also, every time we are talking about him, I bring up something about Homie A. I'm just so glad to be around these amazing kids.

We went for a swim this afternoon, which I think I needed. Then we opened presents and went out for sushi. It is good stuff in San Jose, but I am beginning to think I shouldn't eat crab.

Today I feel like a blimp.
Tomorrow I must feel like Helen.

This senorita is ready to tango the night away with Zoro (or the Hamburgler, as the case may be).

I'm starting a collection of round logos.

Joyful non-balloon moment.

Spicy

Turns out no Kabuki last night, but snuggled up with a good National Geographic.

Up early this morning. We returned the van, and dropped Mr. C off at work. His daughter was upset to see him go. We headed off in search of grub, and ended up at Mel's. The food was good, but I am beginning to think that giving kids free balloons is nothing but trouble (despite the joy it brings).

Got a bunch of errands taken care of, and then headed to talk with the gub'ment. This was of course painful and full of misdirection, but I am now officially (I even have a name badge)not a prostitute. Now if only the corporate folks think I'm a good bet, I'll be in business. Oh, and of course much more painful interaction with "the man".

Came home to the in-laws, which is always fun. It is so great to see the interactions between A-man and others. We also had yummy dinner and good Aussie Shiraz provided by Auntie L.

Paperwork finale tomorrow.

Lulu prepares herself for the moving van.
